CES2009에서 공개한 삼성전자의 수퍼슬림 블루레이(Super Slim Blu-Ray) 디스크 플레이어가 현지인들의 시선을 사로잡고 있다고 Gizmodo를 비롯한 해외 블로거들이 언급하고 있다. 벽에 장착시켜 사용하는 BD-P4600는 디자인이 유려하고 고급스러운 분위기를 자아낸다. 삼성전자에서 TV분야에 채용했던 보르도 디자인과 컬러를 적용한 점이 특징이며, 두께가 1.5인치(3.81cm)에 불과해 얇고 슬림한 외형을 갖고 있다. LP(Low-Profile:세로가 짧은 와이드형태)규격을 갖고 있는 BD-P3600은 책상이나 테이블 위에 올려놓고 사용할 수 있다.

또한 삼성전자 디지털미디어총괄 박종우 사장은 세계 최대 소비자가전 전시회인 'CES 2009' 개막식 전날인 7일(현시시각) 전 세계 미디어를 대상으로 기자회견(Press Conference)를 갖고 "삼성전자의 블루레이 디스크 플레이어로 Netflix, Pandora와 같은 스트리밍 서비스를 전략적 제휴를 통해 보다 많은 영화와 음악 서비스를 온라인으로 즐길 수 있어 보다 다양해진 컨텐츠를 즐길 수 있다"고 언급했다.
BD 플레이어는 Dolby Digital Plus(돌비 디지털 플러스-최신음향기술), Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD HR/MA decoding and audio bitstream output을 지원하며 인터넷 스트리밍을 통해서 Netflix 을 시청하거나 판도라의 라디오를 청취할 수 있다.

Coming this CES 2009, Samsung may showcase its 2009 line of Blu-ray players with Broadcom’s BCM7601 Blu-ray SoC chipset with smaller footprint and energy efficient 65 nanometer processor for the supports of Blu-ray, DVD, online content playback and HDMI 1.3 protocol.
The BCM7601 is Broadcom’s third gen, high-performance single-on-chip with 500-MHz MIPS 24Kc processor with dedicated 64-KB caches. Much like the Sigma Design SoC 8644 and 45nm Panasonic’s UniPhier; the BCM7601 integrates a MIPS execution unit, dual-stream video decoder, dedicated graphics engines, 7.1 audio capability, security processor, a hardware still image decoder, dual DDR2 interfaces, video and audio outputs, and a full array of system and connectivity interfaces for the most demanding Blu-ray multimedia player.
